"And I absolutely adore Hollowpoint. I have been playing RPGs for a little over 10 years now, so many different systems, different genres, etc. I've never played a game that suits me so well as this one. It's gotten me to the point where not only am I interested in running a game, I'm really looking forward to it. I love Hollowpoint and I cannot wait to share it with others!"

"All I can say is.. totally F'n glorious. Hollowpoint will definitely see plenty of time in the game rotation now."

"Rolling sets and tracking the dice and the occasional "fuck off" that sends someone groping into the teamwork pool and emerge with a handful of dice...they're the slender, fragile-looking, but perfectly functional wire coat hanger that you hang your slick black suit of narration on. This well-crafted little red book with a grinning maniac on the cover isn't a game, in and of itself, it's an excuse to make a game, filling in the details and telling an awesome action-movie story with your buddies.

"My hat's off, gentlemen.

"After this initial taste, we were all just blown away by how much fun this was. We were plotting out movies (The Losers in particular translates very well) using Hollowpoint's rules, we were assigning key stats to the characters from Leverage and talking about using traits as a flashback-mechanic to explain how the outlandish cons worked, and we were unanimously voting Hollowpoint our new go-to pickup game (shooting [redacted] in the head and carelessly kicking the corpse off the throne)."

Russel Zimmerman (Critias) from RPG.net

Hollowpoint is a role-playing game that uses a novel engine to generate fast on-the-fly violent action at the drop of a hat, brought to you by the award-winning developers of Diaspora. It's ideally suited to a single evening's play and encourages regular character death because, hey, this shit's dangerous.

Okay a few things to shout about here and now. First, until August 15, 2011, the code MYBOOK305 will get you 15% off Hollowpoint at Lulu! Hurray!

Second, Leisure Games has just ordered a bunch of copies, so you can buy straight from them soon if that's the way you like to get your games! Much thanks to Sean at LG there for reaching out to us!

Finally, we officially shipped 100 units sometime this morning, almost exactly a week after release. I'm already getting pictures in my mail box of games and people with their games. Don't forget that when the PDF is released, if you bought the game and sent me proof, you get the PDF for free.

We just cut a deal to get Hollowpoint into our first vendor venue! This is going to be especially good news for the German contingent, because that venue is the awesome Sphaerenmeisters Spiele! We've worked with these guys before -- they took a load of Diaspora books over and over again and were great about spreading the word. So thank you guys!

And of course, creative fan Tony Love proves me wrong.

Bastille Day. What better time to release an ultraviolent revenge-driven game filled with dramatic death scenes and criminal/political intrigue? So today it is...to the right there you'll find a link to Lulu where you can buy Hollowpoint for $19.95! So go do that! Thanks to everyone for their help and encouragement and patience!

Someone also asked me today about character sheets. We didn't include character sheets for Hollowpoint mostly because the whole game is pretty austere. Here's my character card for Amber Sparks:

See, if you take all the stuff off of that that you would fill in at the table -- the name, the character portrait, the numbers -- you have a list of five skills and some blood spatter. Just didn't seem worth it! Still, I'll make a blank available if there's demand.

I got my draft yesterday and it looks wicked:

There are a few problems with it, but they are easy to fix. So now I'm just waiting for Toph to get his and have a look and then bang zoom we are on sale. Hurray!

July 6, 2011

So yesterday I sent all the material to Lulu to get a couple of draft books to examine. That means our earliest release is about July 20th and a more likely date is sometime in early August. There will not be an immediate PDF release, but if you own the book, you can have the PDF for free -- just send us a picture (using the contact link over there on the right) of your book and a PDF will wend its way to you when it becomes available. The PDF will also be on sale on its lonesome, of course!

We are so close. I just finished a final layout draft for review by Toph and JB and when I get notes back on that, I'll put them in and start the publication process. This has been a long time coming and I am really excited about this game. It covers a strange space that isn't all that strange when I think about it -- it seems like an adult game (swearing) but it is really hilariously juvenile. Kids love it, though of course you'll have to edit for language to suit your preferences as a mom or dad. Or your partner's preferences.

First release will be through Lulu, probably softcover. We're looking at around a hundred pages of material in 6x9 (we want VSCA products to stand together on your shelf elegantly) format, black and white interior.
